BUFFALO, NY (July 8) - The Buffalo Weather Experience Center Board of Directors announced today that
the "Committee for the Buffalo Weather Experience Center" has been not-for-profit status by the Internal Revenue
Service, authorizing the Board to begin fundraising. The approval follows the Committee's certificate of incorporation
by the New York State Education Department in February, 2009.
"Achieving not-for-profit status is a key milestone in the creation of the BWEC vision," said Craig W. Turner, president of the
Board of Directors. "We have spent the last year engaged in heavy behind-the-scenes committee work, building community contacts, designing exhibits and
determining our facility's needs in preparation for our fundraising campaign, and with this authorization, we can begin to take our efforts
to the next level. This is very exciting."
Those wishing to contribute to BWEC can do so at: Committee for the Buffalo Weather Experience Center, 1900 Main Place Tower, Buffalo, New York 14202.
The Buffalo Weather Experience Center Committee is supporting the creation of a museum on Buffalo's waterfront that will provide
interactive exhibits, educational programs and weather-related experiences to engage, eduate and excite visitors of all ages
regarding weather's impact on every day life, and its importance to the future of our planet.
