BWEC TO PRESENT LECTURES AS PART OF CANAL SIDE SUMMER SERIES

BUFFALO, NY (July 15) - The Buffalo Weather Experience Center (BWEC) Board of Directors announced today that the Buffalo Weather Experience Center will be presenting two lectures this summer as part of the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation's (ECHDC) "At Canal Side" summer activity series.

On Saturday, August 15, BWEC will present: "Epic Great Lakes Storms, Shipwrecks and Lighthouses." Tom Niziol, Meteorologist-in-Charge at the National Weather Service in Buffalo, and the Buffalo News' Mike Vogel, First Vice President of the American Lighthouse Foundation, will be the lecturers.

On Saturday, September 12, WIVB Channel 4 Chief Meteorologist Don Paul and Stephen Vermette, associate professor, Geography and Planning Department, Buffalo State College, will present "Ice Boom Myth Busters."

"Working with the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation on this lecture series is a tremendous opportunity for BWEC," said Craig W. Turner, BWEC president. "We're taking advantage of the chance to earn some great public exposure though presenting what we feel are some pretty cool weather-related topics that will be of great interest to Western New York residents. We appreciate the ECHDC for thinking of us, and invite the community to come be a part of our programs."

Exact location of the lectures is to be determined. More information on the ECHDC's summer program can be found at http://www.eriecanalharbor.com.
